The website “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” was launched in September 2006 as the information resource of The Turkmen Initiative for Human Rights (TIHR).
Regrettably, non-governmental mass media are non-existent in Turkmenistan and the Chronicles of Turkmenistan fills this gap virtually acting as an independent non-governmental information agency.
Unlike other Turkmen media outlets located abroad we focus on publishing the exclusive information covering the events which take place in Turkmenistan and how they affect the everyday life of Turkmen residents.
Our goal is to provide our readers with the information which can serve as an alternative to the official Turkmen mass media as well as news which аre often concealed in Turkmenistan. Judging by the fact that our publications are often cited and referred to by many well-known and respected mass media outlets, we manage to achieve this objective.
Our correspondents based in various Turkmen regions, analysts and experts from abroad along with those readers who are concerned about Turkmenistan’s fate help us to achieve our goal.
Apart from this website, the TIHR owns a multimedia resource – “TurkmenDissidentTV”, which posts interviews with prominent people, experts on Turkmenistan, satirical animated cartoons as well as video clips featuring Turkmenistan.
